These sculptures float somewhere between
science experiment and metaphor. They are made in response to (or in the shadow
of, or maybe beside) research into batteries and the materials and chemistry of
storing power, histories of electrification and electrical sciences, discard
and waste studies, YouTube and other DIY battery building and plastic chemistry,
and a detour into transcranial direct current stimulation. They don’t mean in
the way that science does, and they are not quite stories.
They’ve been a useful reminder that things can change.
Works from top to bottom: Conjugated backbone crossed section, Excited systems (medical history museum), Nervous systems (light pollution), Minor Revision (lab accident)
